What we collect
Only what you type into a form or record into a microphone, plus the technical minimum needed to serve the page. There is no analytics script, no advertising pixel, no third-party tracker and no cookie used to follow you between sites.
What we do with a recording
We transcribe it and, where relevant, translate it. That is the whole list. Recordings are not used to train AI models, and will not be, unless a contributor gives separate, explicit, specific consent for that purpose — which we do not currently ask for.
Who can see your record
Whoever you chose, at the access level you set when you submitted it. The default is that nothing is public. A record can be public, public but anonymous, family-only, restricted to research use, private, preserved but unpublished, published after a date you name, or released only after your death.
Changing your mind
You can review, correct, restrict or withdraw your record at any time, before or after publication. Withdrawal means removal from the public archive; tell us if you also want the underlying files destroyed, and they will be.
Where it is stored
On infrastructure operated by Cloudflare. Recordings and images are held in object storage, the structured record in a database, both under our account and neither shared with, sold to, or licensed to anyone.
Children and minors
This is not a service for children. Contributions are intended for people aged 30 or over; a younger contributor may apply, but their submission is reviewed by a person before anything is accepted.
